The goal of this section is to help you understand the necessity of a vision and goals for yourself as well as to provide resources to help you set your own. When the road gets tough as it inevitably does, you have to really feel that vision, it has to mean something to you, move you, inspire you.

The aim of this section is to help you understand that there are only two lenses through which you can view your future: the lens of optimism… or pessimism. This section will help you understand why optimism is the only lens of choice, how it can empower you, and how it can be practiced.

The aim of this section is to help you understand the importance of remaining calm and how it affects your ability to be your best self. As we have stated many times, you perform at your best when existing in the present moment. Being too activated, wound up, or nervous is not conducive to playing our best game. Generating or finding the ability to calm yourself is a skillset you have to develop, and it will help you to consistently optimize your performance.

The goal of this first section is to help you better understand the power that recovery provides. As you’re working on new skill sets it’s imperative you are doing all you can to support your personal growth. Stress without the proper recovery only leads to more stress on the body. But a dose of stress mixed with healthy recovery is where the magic and growth happens. It’s incredibly difficult to act, think and perform at our best when our recovery isn’t dialed in like it needs to be.

The goal of this section is to help you understand how mindfulness will not only help you be fully present in every moment, but will also take your play to the next level. The lessons learned in this inning will help you focus and refocus at a moment’s notice in order to play your best game. In order to do so, you’ll need to master your breath. Breath work is a central component in remaining calm and present. We will discuss and practice breath at length within this inning.

The aim of this section is to help you understand that there is very little you can actually control, both on and off the baseball field. From the moment you wake until the moment you fall asleep, there are not many things that are squarely within your control. Focusing your energy or attention on things that are outside of your control is a waste of both time and energy. Mastering the ability to focus your attention to what you can control and surrendering everything else is a massive step towards becoming your best self.

The aim of this section is to help you with the notion that you don’t need anything you don’t already have to be, feel, play with and exude confidence. Confidence comes from YOU, no one can provide you with it.

The goal of this section is to help you understand things will inevitably get tough in pursuit of your goals. Grit is about having the passion and perseverance to keep going, to continue in your pursuit of those goals. A growth mindset is the understanding that all skills can be developed through dedication and hard work. These two things are the primary tenets of personal development, and in order to grow as both a player and a person, it’s important to adopt a mindset of both grit and a growth mindset.
