Hello, I'm John-Austin (JA)

I’ll never forget my first days with the Seattle Mariners organization. What began as pure excitement to be there was quickly overshadowed by my struggle to base my confidence and self-belief on anything other than the opinions of others or the previous day's box scores. It was in the sweltering Arizona heat that I came face-to-face with the destructive power of my own thoughts and my inability to use my mind for good.

I didn’t know it at the time, but I was missing something critical—something other athletes around me seemed to possess effortlessly. Looking back, I realize that what I lacked wasn’t physical skill but mental strength.

Today, I’ve made it my mission to ensure no athlete has to face the same void I did. I’m committed to helping athletes develop a mind as strong as their game—one that is resilient under pressure, confident in their abilities, focused on the task at hand, and prepared for any challenge. More than that, I aim to instill a deep understanding and appreciation of the critical role mental strength plays in their performance and growth, both on and off the field.

How'd I get here?

I’ve been fortunate to achieve a lot throughout my journey—from playing junior college baseball, Division I football and baseball, and minor league baseball in the Seattle Mariners organization to founding Bedlam CrossFit in San Antonio, TX. I’ve helped build a nutrition company from the ground up, landing its products on the shelves of Whole Foods, and even started a state-of-the-art baseball facility featuring virtual reality training and a fully equipped gym. Along the way, I’ve learned countless lessons, but none more valuable than the power and necessity of a well-trained mind.

Today, and since 2021, I work one-on-one with athletes and teams who are serious about playing their best games and living their best lives. Those that won't and don't settle for anything other than their best effort. Those who realize their mind's power and want to do all they can to harness it. And those who understand that our most incredible efforts won't always equate to victories but still work tirelessly to ensure that when the stage is biggest and the lights brightest, no one is more prepared for the moment.

I am a proud father to two incredible young men, and my wife, my best friend, is the heart and soul of our family. Together, they are my greatest joy and the centerpiece of my life. I cherish the magic and creativity of an early morning cup of coffee, the clarity I gain from time spent in the gym, and the deep connection that comes from meaningful conversations.

Building relationships rooted in trust, connection, and empathy is a core belief of mine, and it is my greatest honor to walk alongside individuals on the most profound journey of all—the pursuit of becoming their best selves.
